Tonight is the night! See you there! Admission tickets are available on MTK through 6PM tonight – there will be no tickets sold at the door.

PTA Meeting
Wednesday, November 1, 9:00 AM – Pierce Commons
Visit the PTA Info page on MTK to review the October 4 meeting minutes. The approved budget for 2023/24 has also been posted. Doors to the Commons will be open just past the flagpole near the front of the school or check in at the main office before heading down to the meeting.
ALL parents are welcome to attend any PTA meeting. Younger siblings are welcome, and parents are welcome to show up after 9AM if preschool drop-offs or other schedule needs make it hard to be there right at 9AM. We would love to have you! All are welcome!
Scholastic Book Fair
Wednesday, November 8 & Thursday, November 9
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers – AND, as always, every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
The book fair will take place in the Pierce Media Center from 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm (with a break from 4:00 pm– 5:00 pm) on November 8 and 9 during Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Volunteers are needed to help during the book fair with purchases & assisting families in locating books. We also need help setting up the book fair on November 1, and taking it down on November 10. If you are able to help, please sign up below.
Conference Dinners
Wednesday, November 8 & Thursday, November 9
One of the ways our Panther community supports our staff and teachers is by providing dinner during Parent/Teacher Conferences. PTA sponsors the purchase of the main meal from a local restaurant, but we need your help rounding out the meal.
Please consider donating for conference dinners and stocking the staff lounge! In addition to the items listed, K-Cup coffee, plates, napkins, and plasticware are always in need!
Volunteer Opportunities
Front Office Volunteers
Our front office is looking for volunteers 2 shifts/day: mornings = 9AM – 10AM & afternoons = 2:30PM – 3:30PM. If you are able to help, please sign up here!
Noon Aid Sub
Noon Aids assist daily in our cafeteria and on our playground, helping our lunch time run smoothly. At times, we need subs to fill in when our usual noon aids are out. If you can be available from 11:15 AM – 1:30 PM and would like to be placed on the Noon Aid On-Call List (you will only get called when there is a need), please email Rose at RDorre@birmingham.k12.mi.us.
More Key Information
TRUE Martial Arts
TRUE Martial Arts, a local martial arts studio, is owned by a Pierce family and does all of the martial arts after school classes through community education at all of the Birmingham elementary schools including Pierce. TRUE Martial Arts is offering a special fundraiser for Pierce families this fall – for $69, students can do 2 weeks of unlimited classes, including a uniform and all $69 comes back to the Pierce PTA! See the attached flyer for details. Special thanks to TRUE Martial Arts of Pierce & our families!
PTA Open Positions
The Pierce PTA is searching for a Legislative Liaison that would help connect with all sorts of advocacy and legislative groups, reaching up all the way to the U.S. Department of Education and Michigan Legislature to understand what is happening that would affect students locally in our district. And then, from there, the idea is to pull that information back down to the local level, raising awareness and bringing people in our community to action.
For next school year, we have many positions currently filled by 5th grade parents who will be ‘graduating’ from Pierce. With that, we will be looking to fill the following positions: Secretary, Wellness Chair, Fundraising Chair, Academic Chair. Reaching out now allows time to shadow these chairs during the remainder of this school year.
If you are interested in learning more about any of these open PTA positions, either for this year or next year, please reach out to pierceelementarypta@gmail.com for more information. We appreciate your time and energy!
Friends of Different Learners
Friends of Different Learners is an independent organization of Birmingham Public Schools parents, staff, and community members dedicated to maximizing the potential of students with different learning styles and abilities.
All are welcome on Thursday, November 2 @ 7 PM to the Birmingham Covington School Media Center for a very special interactive community event. We will be walking through the building and organizing an IEP binder with fellow parents of IEP students.
