Oakland Elementary School
8.24.20
Hello Oakland Families,
Thank you for a great start to Remote Learning 2.0. We appreciate your patience, support, grace, and flexibility as we embark on this learning adventure together. As we enter week two, here are some tips that we have found to help make a successful learning experience for our students:
- Please provide your child with a quiet learning space away from other siblings, when possible.
- Please provide access to a power outlet.
- Please make sure your child has all necessary materials with them each day. The necessary materials include everything that went home with your child on the materials pick-up day and their school supplies.
- Feel free to begin allowing your student(s) to work independently under the direction of his/her teachers. Of course, this transition will look different depending on your student(s) age and ability level.
- Please try to stay within ear-shot to encourage your child to take ownership of their learning and to develop, initiate, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Please reach out to your teacher(s) if you have questions or concerns.
- We ask that students please only eat snacks during the times suggested by their teachers.
- Please have students take restroom breaks during asynchronous learning time.
- For younger students, please make sure your child understands that they microphone should remain muted unless the teacher has called on them or asked them to speak. (This is also helpful when there are others in the background in the home that are having conversations, please be mindful of those times so as to give your child the best possible focus.)
- Please make sure your child is completing their work during asynchronous learning times. If students are not able to complete their work during this time, the work should then be completed as homework.
We are so happy to be partnering with you this year and want to support our students and set them up for success. Please reach out to your teacher(s) if you have any classroom specific questions or concerns. As always, feel free to reach out to us, as well.
Have a fabulous week.
Most Sincerely,
Rebecca Adams and Lindsay Burns
