Happy Friday, Lil Steamer Families!
December 15, 2024
From the desk of: Principal Hoese
I have a big favor to ask in order to better support the needs of our Lil Steamers. As shared throughout this school year, we have been implementing the Capturing Kids Hearts initiative.
Part of this process involves getting feedback from staff, students, and families in regards to the new concepts and strategies that have been implemented.
HERE'S THE BIG FAVOR TO ASK:
- There is a short 14 question survey for families to complete to provide us with feedback to help improve our school. It takes less than two minutes to complete and would help us greatly to better support our Lil Steamers.
Thanks for considering and I wish each of you a wonderful weekend.

It’s so important for our children to make kindness part of their daily lives. As the holidays approach, we can encourage them to do some random acts of kindness. Here are a few ideas:
Donate toys or books you no longer need.
Donate money to an organization you participate in.
Pay for someone else’s order at the drive through.
Send cards to men and women who are serving our country.
Tell jokes to make someone smile.
Donate food to your food bank.
Donate pet supplies to the shelter.
Help someone do a chore or other job.
Do yard work for an elderly neighbor.
An exciting week in Preschool!!!
FFA members from the high school came to visit the AM and PM preschool classes. They read us a story about pigs, and even brought items for the kids to make their own pig crafts with applesauce cups! THANKS FFA!!!!
Officer Grinch Visits FES!
To celebrate Grinch Day, Officer Grinch of the North Pole Police Department made a special visit to the Greatest Little Elementary School in the Universe! Along with his loyal officers, they delivered candy canes to all students. Staff gifts, on the other hand, came down to a vote by students for either a candy cane or an onion!
Mrs. Marten's Math with Officer Leitzen
While working on rounding in Math today, SRO Leitzen came into class. The kids had a great time thinking that he was going to teach them today! They quickly changed their mind when they discovered his idea of rounding was a circle with arrows drawn around it!
Grinch Day!
Kindergarten and 1st grade students had a great time during Grinch Day. Students rotated between the kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms where fun games were played, a story was read, and crafts were made!
FES Receives Donations from Local Organization!
The Merton Chapter #356 of the Order of the Eastern Star provided clothing and supply donations to FES on December 7. The members are dedicated men and women who sincerely reflect the spirit of fraternal love and the desire to work together for good by giving their time to meaningful projects that benefit mankind. Pictured above are Thomas Warner, Principal Hoese, Thelma Warner, Shirley Piercy, and Roese Hoese. FES is grateful for our local organizations who support our #SteamerNation community!

4th Grade AR Roll Call
Reading practice is one of the best ways for students to increase their reading skills. At 4th grade we encourage the students to complete their independent reading by earning reward levels. We are nearing the end of the 2nd quarter and have several students that have made movement on our AR roll. Several have reached and exceeded the 5 pt., 10 pt. & 15 pt. levels. Many have also achieved their goal for the 2nd quarter as well.
39 students have reached the 20 pt. level which allowed them to have lunch in the classroom with a friend. In addition, 26 of those students have reached the 25 pt. level and had a popcorn treat popped fresh to be eaten in the classroom or saved for later. Just a few have met the 50 pt. level, but many have their sights on it and are working hard for that lunch with a teacher reward.
