Boyden Weekly Update
April 6, 2023
Dear Boyden Families,
During the week of April 10, 2023, Walpole Public Schools will begin a transition to a new mass communications system. This new system will allow for improved messaging between schools and families for automated notifications of school absences as well as for more time-sensitive alerts like unscheduled school closings.
One of the first steps of the transition will be a welcome message via phone, SMS text, and email, shared with the phone numbers and email addresses that families provided as “Contact 1” and “Contact 2.” Later in the week, automated attendance calls will begin using the new system as well.
If you find that the new system contacts incorrect phone numbers or email addresses, please contact the school’s main office with updated information.
Please see the information below.
Have a great long weekend!
Brendan
Class Placement 2023-2024
We will begin the process of student placement for the 2023-2024 school year toward the middle of May. Throughout this school year, teachers have learned about your child’s learning style, personality, strengths, and challenges. We will spend considerable time taking these variables into account to place all students in heterogeneous learning communities. A variety of data and observations regarding each child has been and will continue to be collected as placement is determined for the upcoming school year.
If you wish to share more about your child and describe the type of classroom environment you feel would be most beneficial for their academic and social progress, please provide the information to me using the below Google Form by Friday, May 5, 2023. This information will be shared with this year's classroom teacher and your child’s receiving teacher for the 2023-2024 school year in order for them to successfully support your child in the classroom.
Honoring specific requests for classroom teachers is not possible due to the complexity of the placement process.

What Are the Students Learning in Art?
Hello from the Boyden Art Room!
The Artist, Faith Ringold is the inspiration behind the current unit on TEXTILES for grades K through 3.
Grade K - 2 have started a new, fun, yet challenging unit of WEAVING with burlap where they begin by deconstructing the cloth and reweaving with purpose.
Grade 3 is exploring TEXTURES and QUILT MAKING while learning in more detail about Faith Ringold’s Art Journey.
Grade 4 classes are in the process of editing, adding audio, and producing their Stop Animation! (Mrs. Carroll is graciously continuing to assist as they perfect their movie.)
Grade 5 has begun a new unit about Radial Symmetry and will be choosing universal Symbols to tell their story of their journey through Elementary School.
