Happy Sunday HES Family & Friends!

We would like to thank all of our grandparents that joined us last week as we celebrated the great contributions of our elders while promoting literacy. We thank you for your continued guidance of, wisdom, and support along this educational journey toward success with our student leaders. We also thank one of our DCS Alumni, Sierra Walls, for joining us last week to share some nuggets of encouragement to our third and fourth grade female students. We are looking forward to all of our students dreaming big and accomplishing their dreams successfully.

September 15th - October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month! Join Dublin City Schools in celebrating the rich heritage of our Hispanic American students, staff, and families and their many contributions to our district’s culture. At HES, we will feature a Hispanic themed book each week during our morning announcements with students and staff. We will also spotlight our classrooms that will be engaging in activities to share in the recognition of our Hispanic culture.

How are you "Sharpening your Saw?" Please take time to discuss ways you and your child can Sharpen the Saw and have more balance in your life.

• There will be one (1) lane used for morning drop off.
• There will be two (2) lanes used for afternoon dismissal.
• Cars MUST have their car tag number in the window to pick up your child. Cars without a tag will have to drive to the front of the building and wait for your child to be released at 3:30 p.m. with remaining car riders.
• Vehicles must make a right-hand turn off of Edgewood Drive into the Car Rider Line Up near the playground entrance.
• Parents/Guardians may take any of the following routes to reach our car rider line: Cardinal Drive, Northwood Drive, Brookdale Drive, Greenway Drive, and Pinewood Drive from either Claxton Dairy Road or Highway 441 South to get to Edgewood Drive.
• Parents/Guardians MUST remain in cars to pick up car riders. No child will be released to adults who walk up to the building in the Car Rider Loading Zone.
• Please wait for staff member to signal for you to pull off.
• Parents/Guardians may not park along Edgewood Drive and walk up to the front of the building to pick up students while we are loading or unloading buses (7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. – 3:25 p.m.)
• Students not picked up by 3:25 p.m. from the car rider pick up area will be taken to the front office for pick up after this time.

Please be reminded of our dress code expectations. We do encourage you to review our dress code policy, but also providing a few reminders below.

• Sweatshirts and hoodies may be worn to school, but hoods cannot be worn inside of school/classroom.
• Leggings cannot be worn as "stand alone." They can be worn under a solid colored skirt/shorts.
• Jeans/Pants may not have any rips, holes, tears, or frays.
• Shoes must have a strap on the back of them. No Crocs allowed at school.

Please help us by making sure your child is appropriately dressed before coming to school each day.

All students must have a clear or mesh book bag to enter the school building. We do have a few clear book bags left for sale in the front office, if you need to purchase one, for $10 each.

It's important for students to attend school daily so that they can receive the needed instruction in order for them to be successful. It is also important for students to arrive to school on time. If your child is absent, please submit a written parent excuse and/or doctor's note for your child upon their first day of return to school. This helps the school clear up any attendance issues and prevents us from forwarding names on to the next level due to an excessive amount of unexcused absences. Please help do your part by making sure your child is present at school and on time. Students should arrive no later than 8:15 a.m.

If your child is absent for any reason, please make sure you send a written excuse or doctor's excuse with them upon their return to school.

September 25: Local School Governance Team Meeting/Training, 6:00 p.m.

September 28: Annual Title 1 Meeting: Leader In Me School to Parent Connect, 5:00 p.m.

October 5: 1st Nine Week Grading Period Ends

October 6 - 9: Fall Break {No School}

October 10: Student Holiday/Staff Workday

October 10 - 13: Parent-Teacher Conferences {Teachers will schedule with parents}/Report Cards

October 20: 1st Quarter PBIS Student Celebration

Hillcrest is a PK-4 Elementary Themed Charter School that opened in August 2011. Our theme is L. E. A. P, which is Leadership, Environmental Awareness, and Public Service.
