Language:
Grammar: We will be working with adjectives this week and practicing using No Red Ink.
Wordly Wise: We will be finishing Lesson 8 this week. Activities C & D will be due on Thursday. The test over this unit will be on Friday, 2/2.
Math:
We will be learning a multiplication game, reviewing the area of rectangles and learning how to find the area of rectilinear figures, practicing multi-step multiplication number stories, and learning the lattice multiplication technique. I have moved their test to next week. Study guides will go home tomorrow and will be due Tuesday. Keep practicing those multiplication facts! Most students having difficulty with this unit do not have their facts memorized.
Reading:
I will be finishing Wonder this week. We also will be starting some work with nonfiction reading strategies, specifically inferring this week.
Indiana History:
We will be working on Indiana History this week in conjunction with our nonfiction reading strategies. Students will be learning about the earliest people who lived in Indiana. We will be covering Unit 2, Lesson 3, which focuses on the Native Americans after the 1700s. Our test for this unit will tentatively be on 2/8.
Science:
We will be starting our unit on weathering and erosion this week. We have had some technical difficulties with our VR headsets, but I think the tech department and I are close to resolving the issues and I have my fingers crossed that we will get to use them by the end of the week!

Valentine's Day
As we look forward to celebrating Valentine's Day with our students at their classroom parties, this is a wonderful opportunity for us to emphasize the life skill of friendship with all of our students. As you are out shopping for Valentines to share with classmates, please select cards and/or trinkets that are inedible. This could include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Candy will not be distributed. Thank you for ensuring that all students can have a safe and fun celebration.
We have 27 students in our classroom and I will send home a class list on Friday. Students will need to bring a container to hold their Valentines on that day. In the past, some students have enjoyed decorating a box, while others have simply brought in a grocery bag. This is completely up to you and your child!
