Literacy

Reading-

With ISTEP we didn't have reading groups this week.

Writing-

We are continuing our poetry unit. We worked on alliteration, acrostic and cinquain poems this week.

Words Their Way-

We will have a word sort next week. I will also do a final Words Their Way end of the year assessment.

Math

We continue with Chapter 10 next week and have the chapter test on Thursday, May 5th. Chapter 11 will cover probability.

Sharks

We have begun our shark study this week. Students selected a breed of shark they were interested in learning about. We went to the computer lab and investigated facts to create our own nonfiction paragraph.

Next week we will begin learning about all the parts of a shark that will be important to the dissection. We will focus on the external features and the digestive system.

Students will need to learn the information and pass the shark test in order to participate in the shark dissection. The shark test will be on Tuesday, May 17th. There will be an opportunity for a retake if students do not pass the test the first time.

Last Day of School Picnic

The third grade classes will have a special lunch on the last day of school. We will soon be sending out a link to sign up for donations. Please be on the lookout for this email in the next week.
