- State Assessment (STAAR)

- Parental Involvement
Parents will meet with all three of their child's core teachers. Students will go to the gym during the meetings for a structured activity. This will be a great time to learn more about our campus and meet other parents.
This is NOT a come and go meeting; it begins at 6:00 and will last about thirty minutes. Doors will open at 5:50.

World's Finest Chocolate
Permission slips went home Thursday, August 27th and are due back September 8th. This allows us to order only the amount of chocolate we need.
Candy will be given out September 24th and money will be due October 6th.
If you would prefer not to sell but would like to make a donation, please contact Amy Whittle at awhittle@hisd.com.
Character Education
No one has a greater influence on a child than his or her family!
That's why it's important to share the same values at HOME and at SCHOOL.
With a common language, families and teachers can both help kids learn to:
- Treat Others Right
- Make Smart Decisions
- Maximize Their Potential
After all, two combined influences are greater than just two influences. With the monthly values, definitions and resources, families and schools work together.
Each month we will focus on a different "core value." For September, the core value is INITIATIVE - Seeing what needs to be done and doing it.

Hallsville Intermediate School named a "Model PLC School"
Hallsville Intermediate was recently recognized by Solution Tree for its sustained success in raising student achievement.
PLCs are schools and districts in which educators recognize the key to improved learning for students is on-going, job-embedded learning for the adults who serve those students. The three big ideas of a PLC call upon educators to:
Focus on learning.
Build a collaborative culture.
Create a results orientation.
Schools are recognized based on strict criteria, including demonstration of a commitment to PLC concepts, implementation of these concepts for at least three years, and clear evidence of improved student learning over that period. Once measurable results can be seen, the school must explain its practices, structures, and culture and submit its application for consideration by the PLC Review Committee.
We are very excited about this recognition because it means our kids are learning at high levels and continuing to make improvements each year.
