Upcoming Changes!
As we’ve shared previously, face coverings will be optional in Canby schools starting March 12. Along with that comes new state guidance that brings several other shifts in how we manage COVID-19 in our schools. Please see changes below!
We know that some welcome this news while some will have concerns. Some will choose not to wear masks, and some will continue to wear face coverings for a variety of reasons. In Canby schools, our priority is kindness and respect in order to honor each individual’s decision around masks. Please join us in this effort!
Not only are take-home tests available at your school while supplies last, but families also can now order four more free test kits through USPS. In total, U.S. households can place two separate orders for free, at-home COVID-19 rapid tests (four test kits per order).
Come On In!
Families who are coming inside, should plan to park in the parking lot and come into school through the front doors. Both the Primary and Intermediate Drop Off Areas will continue to be open to families who would like to drop children off quickly.
Essential Volunteers To Help With Academic Support!
We are excited to have Essential Volunteers back at Lee! If you are interested in working with students at school, watch for information from your child's teacher on Essential Volunteer opportunities. In addition to student support, we will begin asking for field trip volunteers in the months to come!
Volunteers will need to have a COVID vaccination or have an approved medical/religious exemption. More information to come soon.

Kinder Kick-off!
If you have a student who will be five years old by Sept. 1, then get ready for our Kinder Kick-offs! These events will be held in-person at each of our elementary schools and will help incoming students imagine a day in the life of a kindergartner. They’ll have a chance to tour the school, meet the teachers and principal, and even receive a welcome gift bag.
If you think a Spanish and English K-12 educational program might be right for your student, then please join the first kick-off on April 5 from 6-7 p.m. at Trost Elementary, Canby’s dual language immersion magnet school.
Otherwise check out your neighborhood school on April 12 from 6-7 p.m. If you need help determining which school your child should attend, use the Clackamas County Address Checker. Families are welcome to enroll their students ahead of time as registration is open online now.
Curriculum Renewal Open House
As we prepare to adopt a new social sciences curriculum, we invite families to an open house. Come learn about our curriculum renewal process, view potential instructional resources, and have the opportunity to ask questions about social science instruction in Canby. The event will take place at Ackerman Library on March 15 from 6-7:30 p.m. Drop in at any time.
Parent/Teacher Conferences Are Right Around The Corner!
If you have not yet scheduled a conference with your child's teacher, please reach out to them soon!
