Great Book Giveaway: Through December 12
We’ve been giving away books left and right during the first week of the Great Book Giveaway. We still have lots of non-fiction titles and a few works of fiction. Make it a point to come see what we have and take what you like before we wrap up on December 12. The shoppers below can attest that there is something for everyone.
The friendly staff in the Library will take some time off during the upcoming holidays.
We will CLOSE at noon on December 18-20.
And the Library will be CLOSED Dec. 24-Jan. 5.
The only Sunday we will be closed is December 30.
Note that books checked out between now and December 16 won’t be due until January 8.
Christmas Tales
There’s so much excitement and revelry during the Christmas season. Don’t overlook the joy of curling up with a good book. Here in the PCBC Library, we have some 488 titles with “Christmas” as a keyword. And that doesn’t even include e-books or audiobooks available from OverDrive.
Here’s the link to our Christmas OPAC listings:
And, we’ve already pulled a bunch of Christmas-themed novels and put them in our display window. The theme is “Have Yourself a Novel Little Christmas.” Get it? Come have a look, and if you see one, just ask the friendly librarian to take it from the window and check it out to you.
Ladies Book Brunch at Concord
Ladies Book Brunch at Concord was the perfect way to kick off December. Our Concord sisters decked their halls with all kinds of beautiful Christmas items. As always, the potluck brunch food was a feast. We broke into four small groups to discuss the books we read, and everyone went home with a new or renewed friendship and an enlightened perspective on the Christian life. A special treat was a short concert by Concord children who were participating in “Drop and Shop.” Thanks to everyone who registered and to those who were able to come.
Our next Ladies Book Brunch will be here at PCBC on Saturday, February 9. Mark your calendar, and watch for the online registration that will go up in the next few weeks. It will include the books we select to read and discuss.
Woman's Touch Dinner
It took three tables to accommodate all the women who came to the Woman’s Touch Dinner as part of the Library and Faithfully Yours/Ladies Book Brunch bunch. The ladies from Concord had a stunning Christmas-themed Bible Tree table. We also had a Silver Screen and Knitter’s Paradise table. Kudos to the Woman’s Touch Dinner and to everyone who made it so festive and fun.
Come Join Our Happy Band
We are looking for additional volunteers for our week-day hours. It’s fun, flexible, not very stressful and very, very fulfilling. No experience necessary; we’ll teach you what you need to know. Could you commit to a few hours each month on a regular basis? Contact Emily Martin at 214-860-3993, or email elmartin@pcbc.org.

Tips and Tricks for More Enjoyable e-Reading
Did you know you can....
- Highlight favorite passages and quotes
- Add your own notes and reflections to text
- Save and review your notes and highlights, even after you turn in your digital title
- Quickly search to find everything about a character (helpful for a novel with tons of characters that are hard to keep up with!)
Try these links to youtube videos to learn how to get more out of your digital reading experience. Don't see your personal device listed here? Go to youtube.com and search for your e-reader to find a video specific to your device.
