Foundations to Challenge

In Challenge students are taught the highlighting system. This system helps a student to better understand what the author is trying to tell them. Our own Challenge Directors have discovered that the students have a hard time 'marking up' their books. So we challenge you to allow your kids to LOVE on their books at home. Encourage them to mark up their books, to circle parts they love, to make notes or underline things or words they don't understand, to play with it, befriend it, carry it around, doodle on it! It's frightening isn't it? We spend so much time telling our children to be careful, be neat, put it up, that they may be missing secrets buried deep in the books they are reading. Break out and be free! Start with one! And if you'd like to lightly introduce the highlighting system; hand your student a blue highlighter and tell them to highlight (a skill in itself) everything that makes them laugh or smile. I think you'll be surprised at the results!

Classical Christian Education

"The Chief aim of all investigations of the external world should be to discover the rational order and harmony which has been imposed on it by God and which He revealed to us in the language of mathematics."
