Getting down to business...
Kindergarten is officially in full swing! We have begun our 90 minute reading block, A.R., reading skill groups, weekly- sight words, nursery rhyme and fluency sentences, math, and BURST intervention groups.
Our AR time will be first thing every morning. It is very important that you read your child’s book that they bring home, and go over it with them each night. The Accelerated Reader program will test your child’s comprehension over the story that was read to them. A reading buddy will re-read the book, and help with our tests. Our goal is to have each student take at least 2 A.R. tests per week.
Our Daily Schedule
Taking an A.R. test with our reading buddies!

What are Fine Motor Skills?
Fine Motor Skills are the coordination of movements that are required for small muscle movements: cutting, writing, opening water bottles, buttoning, zipping, tying shoes, etc. Fine motor skills are important because they directly impact how well a child can write, cut paper, and perform self-help skills.
A couple days a week our morning routine will consist of fine motor learning centers. These are centers that will help strengthen hand/finger muscles and fine motor coordination. Reading and Math skills will be incorporated as well! We are lucky enough to have our own Occupational Therapist, Mandy Petersen, who will be visiting our classroom and helping us work on our fine motor skills!
Using our fine motor skills to build letters out of legos.
Exercising our fine motor muscles by "clipping" the correct number.
Writing and forming the letters of our name correctly.
