Updates

Thank you ALL for a great week of learning!

I wish you a fantastic week of conferences! Conference time is a wonderful opportunity to establish positive connections with families early on in the year. As you enter into a dialogue with parents consider the following:

1. It's important that parents know you see their child as an individual with strengths in addition to knowing the areas for growth. Focus on the strengths first then link the areas for growth to the learning process.

2. Conferences can also be a time where parents can begin to feel like they aren't doing enough or may not be sure how to support their learner at home. Pick one or two areas you suggest they work with their kids outside of school.

3. Approach the dialogue with inquiry, curiosity, and positive intent. Let's remember that these parents entrust their most prized possession to us--their children. At the end of the conference, every parent wants to know that we care about helping their child succeed. Let them know you are on their side.

Also, remember the 4 agreements as you converse with parents, I guarantee it will help.

1. Be impeccable with your word

2. Always do you your best

3. Don't take anything personally

4. Don't make assumptions
