Parent Meeting THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday from 12:00-1:30 in the Fellowship Hall we will be having our first Parent Meeting of the year. I will share some key information about plans for the Student Ministry over 2016 and also field some questions. The main emphasis will be on teaching and equipping parents on the topic of social media. I have invited Dr. Bill Ziegler, who is a parent of two teens in our ministry and was awarded the 2015 NASSP Digital Principal Award, to speak on this topic. Feel free to invite any friends you know to this meeting.

*Lunch will be from 12:00-12:30

Board Game Night on Sunday

When: 6-8pm Sunday, January 31

Where: Trinity E.C. Church

Bring: Board games, cards, snacks and drinks

Why: Similar to our Themed Nights in the Fall, this is our first Theme Night of the Winter. I might have a small devotional at the end, but the main purpose is to get some new teens out who may not usually come to Youth Group.

DROP OFF/PICK UP: Jim & Lynda Maurer's House (See Address above)

BRING: A snack or drink. I will have pizza and ice cream for the teens.

WHEN: February, 7 (6pm-?) You can pick your teen up whenever, but the event will officially be done when the game is over.

WHY: I am hoping to make this an outreach event by getting teens excited to invite friends because of some cool giveaways.

Valentine's Fundraiser Dinner

When: Saturday, February 13th 6-8pm

Where: Fellowship Hall

Why: This event is put on to help raise money for teens to go to Work Camp this summer, or any other event that cost money.

What: We did this last year and it was a huge success. Adult volunteers and teens work together to put on a high quality dinner and entertainment. This year's skit will be a humorous rendition of "The Dating Game", a gameshow from the 60's and 70's. Sign up on the table that has the Valentine Balloons hanging on it.

Donations: This year we are taking donations. Donations will be collected at the event.

Lessons in Sunday Sessions and Youth Group

Sunday Sessions

We are continuing to work through the Gospel Project curriculum. We use the Mid-Week Conversation material which fits best with the structure of Sunday Session.

Youth Group

A couple weeks ago I started a series on Romans. I am teaching them how to read the Bible, plus teaching them how to apply the truths in Romans to their everyday life. This series will probably go until the end of the school year.

General Information

Scholarship Packets for Work Camp: Since the snow storm caused us to cancel church, you want to make an extra effort to be on top of signing up for Work Camp. The Scholarship Packets begin on Sunday, February 7th. These packets are a huge way for teens to earn money towards Work Camp.

Sr. High Retreat: The Sr. High Retreat is next weekend. Be at the church at 4:30 for pizza and group parent prayer. We will be leaving at 5pm.

Parental Consent Forms: Please get 2016 Parental Consent Forms into me by the end of the month.
