A Peek at Last Week
Scientists at Work:
This week our scholars began their exploration into fracking and it's impact on NE Texas.
Humanities Fun:
The Revolutionary War book clubs went into full swing this week. The Scholars collaborated to create their assignment - how many pages and from each discipline (historian, linguist, philosopher, psychologist, or sociologist) from which each member would analyze the book. Then they each prepared a question to bring to the book club for discussion and wrote a reflection on the group's thinking after the discussion. Scholars leading Scholars in book discussions!
Order and Chaos in ASPIRE
This week order and chaos had the greatest impact on Mr. Boykin and Mrs. Fullhart. Mr. Boykin planned and ran the Geography Bee for the school. Whenever one takes on such an event, chaos reigns until it is organized into an orderly fashion. Mr. Boykin did a wonderful job not only on the day of the Bee itself, but also all of the days leading up to it as he met with judges and participants to ensure everyone understood the rules and the roles each was to play. Great job Mr. Boykin!
Mrs. Fullhart has had some chaos thrown her way the last couple of week's as well. In early November her daughter, Sarah, who is pregnant with twins, was placed on hospital bedrest. Babies and Mama are doing well and fortunately are at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine - just minutes away from all of her family. Mrs. Fullhart has adjusted her schedule to be able to spend 2-3 hours each night up at the hospital to be with her daughter. She is thankful for the thoughts and prayers sent her way and for your understanding why grades are showing up a little slower than usual. This past week they learned that Sarah will be at Baylor until at least January 7th. So not only was Thanksgiving at the hospital this year, but so is Sarah's birthday and Christmas! What a contrast this year's Christmas will be to next when the house will be full of boys!
