Classroom News!
It it's May it must be time for learning about cities! This is a particularly rich unit of study as we learn what a city is, who lives in cities, how children play in the city and we also learn about skyscrapers and architecture. As authors we do lots of thinking about the elements of a story including where the story takes place. We read a book called "That Pesky Rat" which is set in the city at night. It's a funny story about a rat who dreams of becoming a family pet. After talking about the story we embarked on making our own nighttime cityscapes which now proudly hang on our wall!
With dancing, stories and flan we celebrated Cinco De Mayo in style! Gracias to Mr. Luna for dancing with us and reading to us in Spanish.

Poem of the Week
Skyscrapers
Do skyscrapers ever grow tired
of holding themselves up high?
Do they ever shiver on frosty nights
with their tops against the sky?
Do they feel lonely sometimes
Because they have grown so tall?
Do they ever wish they could lie right down and never get up at all?
