Discovery Education now on Classlink!
Getting Directly to a Bookmarked Site
Here is your work-around: open up and log into Pearson using Classlink. Leave that tab open. Use a new tab in your browser to open up the exact page you need on Pearson. You can have that bookmarked and go straight there in your new tab. I hope this will help ease the frustration!
This tip works for many other sites. I actually discovered it because I created a Nearpod with a Brain Pop video in it. The kids had to log into Brain Pop to view the video. The one bad thing about Classlink is that now no one really knows the usernames and passwords anymore! :) But I had the kids open Classlink in a different tab, and open Brain Pop from there. Then they could go back to the Nearpod and view the video with no problems.
Keep the Coding Going!
The 5th grade student mentors are available to you if you would like them to visit your class. So if you were planning to do a bit of coding one day, plan in advance and invite your 2 mentors to come help in your classroom. The list of class mentors can be found here. It makes sense to pull them out of their Tech Design class (check with Kristina Gallagher), but if you can't make that work, don't hesitate to reach out to their homeroom teacher to find a convenient time. I imagine many of these eager students would not even mind missing their recess to come code with you! :)
Any questions?
