Thanks, Thanks and More Thanks!

Hello New Zion Parents & New Zion-

Thanks to everyone for last Sunday. The youth sang well and the concert was a wonderful celebration. To all who worked on the Spaghetti Dinner a huge thanks. We had a good group stay and eat and then all pitched in and got us cleaned up and out. Yea Team!

Thanks for your prayers for surgery on Monday. The procedure went was a little more extensive then anticipated. The tendon was torn, but they were able to repair it. The arm is to be immobilized for 4-6 weeks so one armed conducting for awhile. It is all good.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday afternoon!!!

I Wonder About...

On the retreat...which was wonderful...Ruth Ann led us in an exercise of noticing. We were to find a place outside and then answer a series of questions on what we noticed. The order of the questions were:
  • I see...
  • I feel...
  • I smell...
  • I hear...
  • I thank God because...
  • I wonder about...

I would like to share with you this week to the last question.

I wonder about...

  • I wonder about God. What does he look like? Is he a boy or a girl?
  • I wonder about this acorn and why it has not been picked up by a squirrel.
  • I wonder about why God gave us so much beauty when most of us don’t appreciate it.
  • I wonder about what God’s plan for me is.
  • I wonder about how many little things I miss each day and how important it is to NOTICE!
  • I wonder about the person that built the bridge and what it took to do it.
  • I wonder about why bad things happen to those who serve God.
  • I wonder about all the differences that rocks have and what makes them so special.
  • I wonder about how much it reminds me of my home – where I feel the happiest.
  • I wonder about my purpose this weekend.
  • I wonder about what my life will be like.
  • I wonder about what will really happen when we die.
  • I wonder about (I’m wondering why I’m writing this)
  • I wonder about what this beauty represents, love maybe sadness or joy.
  • I wonder about the people who need the most help in life.
  • I wonder about why my older sister is mean to me.
  • I wonder about why sickness is something that exists.
  • I wonder about why God forgives

Thanks be to God.

New Zion Youth Choir

The New Zion Choir is a group of youth in grades 6-12. They meet weekly to rehearse and socialize as they grow together through music, worship, prayer and friendships. They sing in worship throughout the school year, participate in fundraising projects and serve alongside each other in other service opportunities. Every summer they take a mission trip in July. During this time they sing in churches and nursing homes and find ways to serve the community they are a part of at that time.
This open and welcoming group is for anyone that would like to participate. One does not have to be a member of AHUMC to come and be a part.
