We LOVE February!

It is an exciting month in the NPES Learning Commons! February 1 is our Kindergarten 100th day of school celebration - do you think we can read 100 books in 100 minutes??? We will try!

February 1 is also National Bubble Gum Day. Students can purchase bubble gum to chew during recess for 50 cents. All proceeds will go towards Relay for Life! Read more about Bubble Gum Day here: http://www.bubblegumday.com/Bubble_Gum_Day/Bubble_Gum_Day.html

February 3 at 3pm is the Let's Read with the Lady Gamecocks Literacy Game - free tickets were awarded to students who participated in the Let's Read with the Lady Gamecocks reading program during Winter Break! Our highest overall reader will be announced soon!

February 6 is Digital Learning Day! We have a lot going on in the Learning Commons that day! The SC State Library will be here to share their Technology Petting Zoo; the Lexington County Public Library will be here to show you how to download eBooks to your personal device; and your Learning Commons team will be here to show you how to download eBooks from our Learning Commons to your personal device! About Us

The Vision and Mission of the New Providence Elementary School Learning Commons is to ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information in regards to both print and online resources. We strive to provide library media materials and services appropriate to the curriculum of the school and to provide library media materials and services that meet the information and recreational needs of the learning community and that will encourage the 4 C's - Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, and Communication. We provide opportunities for collaboration between the Learning Commons Specialist, the Technology Integration Specialist, and the Classroom Teacher to integrate information literacy and technology into instruction.
