About the Presentation:
Teaching with Math Manipulatives, K-2
How do you manipulate all the manipulatives that come with a math program? Do you need to brush up or learn for the first time how to use those manipulatives? Do you need a refresher course?
Bring your manipulatives with you, and we will look at ways to bridge the gap from concrete to abstract
As a result of attending, participants will:
- Understand the importance of using math manipulatives for all learners .
- Have a plan for selecting and introducing manipulatives to address instructional shifts of the Common Core Math Practices.
- Describe assessments that can be used to show effectiveness of manipulatives in demonstrating key math concepts.
- Implement new strategies using manipulatives to bridge gaps from concrete to abstract.
