OCS Weekly Update
Week of April 26th
"BREAKING NEWS" RIGHT BEFORE PRESS TIME!
Dear Families,
Hopefully, April break gave them the recharge they need to finish the year strong. We have 38.5 days left of school. And in this time we will wrap up our grade level units; our grade 3-6th graders will participate in State testing; students in K-6 will participate in STAR testing for reading and math; K-6 will participate in the Teachers College Reading Assessment; as well as have opportunities for field trips and/or special school events! It will be a very busy 38.5 days so please make sure to have your students well rested and ready to learn each and every day!
Thank you for all of your support. It is greatly appreciated. As always, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask. We will do our best to support you and your family.
Jessika Sheldrick, on behalf of the OCS Staff
A SPECIAL REMINDER
I am not trying to be mean. We have rules for a reason. Again, we are a community school and need to work together to protect our students and our playground equipment. It is also quite tricky for a child when s/he is held accountable for their actions at school when the child is allowed to break the rule otherwise.
Although we don't allow students to ride bikes or skateboards during school hours, we have noticed that some students are doing so after school. These children should be wearing proper safety equipment and all required equipment, including a helmet.
Let's work together! RIPPLE Behavior before, during, and after school hours!
Aiden Rizzotti Brings the OCS Community Together to help Ukraine!
This was an amazing experience that helped Aiden feel more hopeful and feel like he made a difference. Another student shared, "It was so cool to see that he could make a difference. It helped me realize that each little bit counts. It's like if we all work together it makes things easier." Wise words from a sixth grader!
Thanks to Aiden's efforts to bring the community together, we will be sending a check to Sunflower of Peace, a nonprofit organization out of Boston that is giving medical and humanitarian aid to the Ukraine. With his help, we raised well over $500.00!
Thank you Aiden for giving us all a little more hope in our lives.
