Conserving Water Through Smart Practices
Toilet Tips
Using a low flow toilet can significantly decrease the amount of water used by about 4.4 gallons per flush. In the course of a year that can save from 11,000 to 35,000 gallons. SAWS also gives discounts for using these low flow toilets. Showers are also a leading user of water in homes today. You can save almost 10 gallons by cutting down your shower by just 5 minutes. That equates to 7300 gallons a year if you take 2 showers a day.
Invasive Issues
Invasive plants are often seen as more exotic and better to look at. They also are not adapted to the heat of South Texas and require significantly more water than native plants. These plants will thrive in this environment and will also grow into a beautiful sight. If you were to plant more native species the less you would have to wake up and water those beautiful plants.
