Updates on Professional Development
We have a few announcements and happenings for this month. Please read over the topics and spend time in areas that interest you most.
TLC---Technology Learning Communities
Our next scheduled TLC will be the week after we return from Christmas break. Frank will lead us in Google Forms. Please look for an email from Frank noting the dates and times. We schedule the TLC times based on the instructor and what works for his/her schedule. We attempt to include both a morning session and an afternoon session. When you get the email introducing the next TLC topic, just add the date that works best for you to your calendar.
We will be starting a new Theme after Frank presents on Google Forms. The new theme will be Creative and Collaborative Teaching and Learning. The topics include:
Keynote
Mindmapping
iMovie
Educreations
Book Creator
Classkick
Explain Everything
App Smashing
Library Drop-in Opportunities
I (Jody) will be available in the library conference room after school from 2:50 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for teachers to drop in as needed to discuss technology integration into lessons they are planning. If interested, just drop in and see me. My availability will begin after the new year. I will send an email if a conflict arises and I will be unable to be there.
Schedule with a Professional Development Team Member
The Professional Development team would also like to offer times that we would be available to meet with teachers who have questions or need help planning their tech lessons during planning periods. As of right now, we have most class periods covered. Just email or call and we can plan a meeting.

Actively Learn Coming to Present at Bellarmine
Activelylearn.com is a website that allows teachers to insert questions, comments, and dialogue into student's reading assignments. On January 27th, a representative from that group will be presenting to our faculty on how this can work in our classrooms. Some teachers have already tried it in their classes and have found some success. This day is a late start inservice day with PLC time at the beginning of the day. We are excited to share this resource with the faculty.
Conferences and Professional Development
Funding for Professional Development
Faculty or PLC's interested in attending will submit a request for funding and release time to the Academic Vice Principal Barbara Lidikay. Programs should meet individual and school needs for professional development. Faculty attending will be expected to follow up with departments or other interested faculty through an inservice or TLC.
