Childhood

He was born in a one room shack in Barn well,South Carolina woods.His parents split at the age of 4.He grew up during the great depression whale he lived with his grandma.During the great depression he did whatever job he could find like dancing for the soldiers at fort Gordon he also picked cotton and shined shoes,and washed cars.At the age of 16, he was arrested for stealing a car and sentenced to three years in prison. Brown organized and led a prison gospel choir. It was in jail that Brown met Bobby Byrd, an aspiring R&B singer and pianist, forming a friendship and musical partnership that proved one of the most fruitful in music history.in 1955, Bobby Byrd invited Brown to join his R&B vocal group, The Gospel Starlings and that's when his music career took off.

One of James Brown’s character traits are perserverence because what ever the universe through at him he would get through it and make something good out of it.for example he went to jail but he started a gospel group and people started to believe in God.Another character trait was that he was determined because he wanted to make music so he tried and tried and tried.
