The Hour of Code is coming during Computer Science Education Week: December 5-11!
The Hour of Code is a global movement by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming.
What’s new for this year?
Code.org has refreshed their content with an updated look with a filter tool that will allow you to find the best activity for your classroom. Take a look at their list list of Hour of Code activities
Some cool things about this refresh:
- There are over 200 tutorials and lesson plans that introduce students to computer science in a variety of ways. Have fun exploring!
- There are new filters to discover more challenging activities that will fit all grade and experience levels!
- There are tons of other ways to filter activities, too: find offline tutorials and activities that work with robots, iPads, Androids, and whatever other hardware your class has!
- Want to connect computer science to social studies, math, or another subject? Use the new topic filter to find subject-specific activities.
There are more updates to come through November, including a few surprise activities that your students will love. Follow the Hour of Code @teachcode to get the latest!
Super 3
For your next students' research paper and/or project, let me help. I can introduce your students to the Super 3 Research Model.
What is the Super3? The Super3 is a research model that guides students through the information problem-solving process in three easy steps. It provides a basic framework for teaching and promoting information literacy. The Super 3 provides students with a tried and true method to answer a question, complete an assignment, or create a unique product. Super3 skills link information problem solving and critical thinking.
