OLVCS Updates
August 26, 2022
Dear OLV Parents and Friends,
We are off to a great start at OLV with an excellent first week culminating in the celebration of Mass. All are invited to our weekly celebration at 9:00am (10:00am on Holy Days) at Our Lady of Victory Church. Because our theme this year is “A Family Renewed in the Heart of Jesus, the Eucharist", I’d like to direct non-Catholics and Catholics to the Communion Reception Guidelines as some of our students might need some further guidance from their families.
Walk-A-Thon information will be coming home early next week. Walk-A-Thon is extremely important to funding school activities, field trips, curricula, and other student-centered upgrades for our school. We are also planning to direct a portion of this year’s funds to our extracurricular programs like sports and our fine arts programs.
Also coming home is a “Family Survey” from the diocese. The data we gather from the survey will be instrumental in obtaining funding from the state for our school used for services that are not covered by our general fund. Please participate and return the survey to the school addressed to Mr. Hoy. All information will be kept confidential.
Hallow is back. Last year we introduced the Hallow app to faculty and students with an invitation for families to try it at home. If you enjoyed the app or would like to try it out, please visit Hallow.com/OLofVictoryPAparents22-23.

OLVCS Athletics Updates
Crusader Team Practices Underway
Our school’s co-ed soccer team and new girls' volleyball team are already getting into shape. The coaches of both teams offered pre-season practices last week and had a full week of practice this week.
Mr. Terry Stec (OLVCS Student Resource Officer) and Mr. Alex Daley (OLVCS 1st Grade teacher) are the coaches of the soccer team. The team is composed of 21 middle school student-athletes. New this year, home games will be played on the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy field.
Mrs. MaryAnn Stolberg (OLVCS 5th Grade teacher) and Miss Kayla Tillery (PSU student majoring in Education and returning ASAP aide) are the coaches of the Girls' Volleyball team, which is composed of 18 girls in 7th and 8th grade. This is the inaugural season for our Girls' Volleyball Team.
Thanks to the generosity of a donor and last year’s fundraising efforts by the OLVCS Athletic Program, both teams will be sporting new uniforms this season. Coaches will distribute uniforms to the team members in the coming weeks.

Birdies Abound For The Saint Joseph’s Golf Team
With nearly 3 weeks of play under their belt, the Saint Joseph’s Golf Team is already showing the strength and skill of their student-athletes. The team’s record is already 10 wins and 0 losses. Outstanding Saint Joseph’s players include OLVCS alumni: Timothy Peters (Senior), Chris Warner (Sophomore), Luke Duckworth (Sophomore), Hayden Lingle (Freshman), and Maddie Koshko (Freshman). Mr. Chad Walsh and Mr. Matthew Graham coach the team.
Saint Joseph’s offers golf, girls volleyball, and co-ed soccer for Fall sports. Saint Joseph’s teams compete in the Tri Valley Athletic Association (TVAA). For more information about the Saint Joseph’s Athletic Program, go to www.stjoeacad.org/athletics
Saint Joseph’s Welcomes Rupprecht As Principal
Earlier this month Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy announced that Mrs. Anna Rupprecht will take the lead as the new principal for Centre County’s only Catholic high school.
Mrs. Rupprecht comes to Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy with more than a decade of educational experience and leadership. In her letter to Saint Joseph’s families, Mrs. Ruppert shared that her “experiences as a homeschool curriculum advisor, teacher, historian, tutor, nanny, university professor, and mother have been important in shaping (her) pedagogical acumen, leadership, patience, and faith.”
