McKinley's Veterans Day Program

Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11. It's a holiday honoring men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces, on the anniversary of the end of World War I.

This year we will honor our Veterans with a special program to be held on Thursday, Nov.10th from 9:00-10:00.

Book Fair

We're excited to announce our upcoming Book Fair. This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. The Book Fair will be held in our school library from Nov. 14-Nov. 18th.

Reading is Essential...

When you dedicate only 20 minutes of your time to reading every day, it is estimated that you will get exposed to 1.8 million words yearly leading to increased general knowledge, communication and analytical skills, and you will obviously enrich your vocabulary substantially.

Thanksgiving Break - Nov. 21-Nov. 25

Did you know...

  • The average number of calories consumed on Thanksgiving is 4,500.
  • Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, followed by Christmas Day and Christmas Eve.
  • In 2014, nearly four times as many home cooking fires occur on Thanksgiving as on a typical day.
  • Butterball answers more than 100,000 turkey-cooking questions via their Butterball Turkey Hotline each November and December.
  • The tradition of football on Thanksgiving began in 1876 with a game between Yale and Princeton. The first NFL games were played on Thanksgiving in 1920.
