The Temple of Artemis at Brauron

Artemis
What do you know about Artemis?
She was born on the island of Ortygia. Her symbols are Bows, Arrows,Hunting dog and a Moon. She is the Daughter of Zeus and Leto and the twin sister or Apollo. The goddess of the hunt and she is also known for the protector of childbirth and labor.
She never went hunting without her sliver bow and arrows because its one of the many wishes she asked her father for.
The Temple of Artemis at Brauron
Location
The Temple is on the eastern side of Attica. Vravrona (Brauron), which is about 20 km from Athens and was one of the 12 towns of Attica which was united to Athens by Theseus.
The Myth
This is the temple where Iphigenia was brought by Orestes, her brother, when they met on the land of Tauris their she served as a priestess. Their she was transferred to Tauris by the goddess of the hunt, Artemis, when she saved her from the sacrifice in Aulis.
The Parade
Every four years an important festival occurs in honor the goddess, Artemis. Many girls ages 5-10 are in a parade and they dress up wearing fur that comes from bears (the bear is the sacred animal Artemis). This is like a preparation process that symbolized the passages from child to youth and marriage.
Museums and the Temple
Today visitors can see the remains of the temple the sanctuary of Iphigenia, the gymnasium and other buildings. Most of the findings they have transferred to the Archaeological Museum of Vravrona and the new Acropolis Museum. The area where you can find the temple has an amazing view of a stream crossing the site.
