News that you can use!
Hello Lichen Bear Families!
We have a lot of updates this next week, so please read on for all of the important information...
Next week are Parent-Teacher Conferences
Monday is a normal school day, from 8:05-2:35. Tuesday through Friday are minimum days, from 8:05 until 11:15am. A sack lunch will be provided. Please make sure to arrange for your child's pick up for early dismissals.
Bridges Schedule for Conference Week
Monday, 3/2, will be a traditional schedule for Bridges. Tuesday through Thursday, Bridges will be available immediately after dismissal until normal release time. Please note that there will be NO BRIDGES ON FRIDAY 3/11/22.
Mask Mandate Update
State officials have announced that face coverings will move from being required when indoors on school campuses to being strongly recommended after March 11th. In alignment with this announcement, San Juan schools, including Lichen, will lift the current indoor face covering requirement on March 12 for all individuals regardless of vaccination status. Face coverings are still strongly recommended on campus. Please ensure that your child continues to wear their masks while indoors on campus until March 12. We appreciate your support.
Family Community Engagement Flier
There are a lot of opportunities this next week for family engagement listed in the district's flier below. Make sure and take a look!
Year Book
Our Lichen Yearbook is in the works! Yearbooks are available to order online and will be delivered to the school by May 27th. Yearbooks are $20. Please follow this link to our online store:
Fliers for the yearbook are also attached below!
End of 2nd Trimester
We've just ended our second trimester and are heading into the final stretch! This is where doubling down on supporting student learning becomes critical. Remind students that a good night's rest, starting the day with breakfast, good food choices, and lots of outdoor time are just as important to learning as reading, writing, and arithmetic. Help your child find a quiet place to do homework and read, and encourage them to grow in their thinking with talk about the world around them. Watch out, 3rd trimseter--HERE WE COME!
CAASPP Testing Starts this Month
After a long break due to COVID-19, the CAASPP test is coming back this month! We will start at the end of the month with science, and progress into English/Language Arts and Math when we return from Spring Break.
Upcoming 4-day weekend
Make sure to put the district's pre-planned 4-day weekend on your calendar. The dates are March 18th-March 21st. There will be no Bridges either March 18th or March 21st.
Water for South Sudan
Our 7th grade students have been fundraising in an effort to build two wells for communities who don't have access to clean water in South Sudan. Their goal is $1000. If you'd like to help them meet their goal of $1000, please feel free to send donations to the front office marked "Water for Sudan" or follow this link to our online donation page:
