Meadows Messenger
Weekly update for the Meadows Elementary School community
Great First Week of School!
This was one of the smoothest school openings that we have ever experienced here at Meadows. Thank you to the preparation that our staff and teachers put into planning our school year! It's exciting to see all of our students on campus and in their new classrooms. Thank you, parents and grandparents for joining us at Morning Ceremony. We will host another one soon. Dates will be shared in the next weekly Messenger announcement.
Every week, please check the "Upcoming Events" column in our Meadows Messenger communication. As a reminder, you will find that every Friday, we have a minimum day. School ends at 12:00pm for students. Teachers meet during this time of day to review pacing, assessments, organize field trips and discuss curriculum. It is an important time frame for our school to analyze how our students are performing academically, socially, and emotionally. It's a time to ensure we are delivering the highest quality programs to our students.
We hope that your children came home to express their enthusiasm for their new classes and school work. Both Mrs. V and I had a chance to visit every classroom twice over the first two days of school and saw each teacher giving students a chance to get to know one another and spend time reviewing school-wide procedures, rules and getting students familiar with the rhythm of the day. Each teacher began teaching students about our school safety and some teachers have already shown students where we evacuate during a school drill. All of these procedures will be reviewed and reinforced next week when we begin full days of instruction.
Please know that we are one community, together we educate our children and together, we will make this a successful school year. I encourage you to get involved by volunteering in your child's classroom, with PTSA, the Foundation and our Meadows' Guardians. Here is a link to sign up to find out more information about Meadows Guardians. Click here to connect with Mrs. Tarlowe, one of our dedicated parents involved in Meadows Guardians parent volunteer program.
We will be hosting "Coffee with the Principal" starting next month for families to come and visit with Mrs. Van Gelderen and me, Dr. Fine and to learn about Meadows school. Our first topic will be on school-wide safety and our PBIS program. Dates to be announced next week.

Traffic Safety During Drop Off and Pick UP
We have multiple gates for students to use during morning arrival and dismissal from the campus. All 4th, 5th, and 6th grade grades students are allowed to exit the campus and wait for their parents, walk or ride their bikes home. Pedestrians must use our crosswalks. Click on the link here to see the driving pattern for drop off and pick up. Please give yourself plenty of time to drop off your child so they can arrive for Morning Ceremony which begins at 7:55am. If you drop off your child between 7:30am-7:40am, this gives them plenty of time to get to their line up spot and you can avoid the traffic. Again, please see this link for the bell schedule for the arrival and dismissal for school.
Thank you for following all traffic regulations and for speaking with your children about safe pedestrian and bike rules. Also, thank you for not parking in our staff lot. We only have so many spots reserved. We appreciate our families working together with the school!
