Progress on Our Goal of a "B in 3"
As you know, our school goal this year was a letter grade of "B in three" years or less. This year we spent time teaching expectations for behavior in the common areas and creating a culture of safety with a focus on academics. We added double blocks of Math and English/Language Arts, created time for teachers to work in teams, focused on learning the new Indiana Academic Standards, prepared for a new Indiana ISTEP+ assessment, and learned better ways to test and grade students. Our teachers also experienced a new evaluation system and new expectations. Our plan is to be a letter grade of a B in three years, so year one was laying the foundation. We will not get our ISTEP+ scores for last year until October. Because it was a new test, we will not have solid data and letter grades until next Fall. We will continue to implement our three year plan as designed. For 2015-2016, we will be focusing on improving classroom instruction, giving students a variety of ways to show their understanding of the Indiana Academic Standards, and creating a consistent grading systems that will clearly report what students know and don't know. We have a lot of work to do, so having our parent and community support will make a difference! Please contact Ms. Branson if you have questions or concerns.
We Need Your Input
As we begin to reflect on year one and plan for our second year, Mr. Merriwether and I would like your input. Please take a few minutes and give your thoughts at the following link. If you know our local community members, please forward the link to them as well. Thank you in advance or the support!

Summer School at WMS
Summer School began this week. We have three classrooms for students at every level. It's great to have kids in the building this summer to stretch learning. We still have space in the honors and regular classes. If you're interested, you can still register. Please contact the main office at 812-477-8983.
Construction in the Main Office
This summer, construction has begun on the main office area. We are remodeling the front office in order to create a more functional office with space for parents and community to enter the building. We are also adding safety and security measures. We look forward to welcoming the community and getting settled into the space that will allow for safe and secure public space, student space, meeting space, and organized work spaces. During the construction, Ms. Branson is working out of the office in the main gym. If you need to visit the building, please go to the door at the back East of the building.
Contact Us
Due to construction in our main office, the principal and secretary are housed in the main gym office at the back East corner of the building.
