PTO Meeting Update
- The PTO plans to purchase two Sensory Walks for next school year. A sensory walk is a colorful, engaging floor- and wall-based path that incorporates whole body movements to help kids learn, retain and gain valuable skills while exercising their body and mind at the same time. Whole body learning combines movement and tactile experiences which activate the movement centers of the brain and coordinate them with the thinking centers of the brain. Additionally, the path provides a short, predictable movement break that teachers can rely on as an outlet for their classes. At its next meeting, the PTO plans to determine the two designs and purchase the items so they are ready by next school year. The paths will each be placed in a school hallway.
- PTO is happy to support Woodchuck Digs, recognizing positive class behavior, by purchasing popsicles for upcoming celebrations.
- The Multicultural Night went well with approximately 150 people in attendance. We welcome ideas to further enhance the event next year.
- Spring Picture Day and 6th Grade Cap and Gown Photos were a bit chaotic. The PTO will work to make improvements to this next year as well as make sure there is better communication to parents about the photo packages to purchase.
- Staff Appreciation Week is scheduled for the week of May 6. We are looking for ideas to recognize our staff and show our appreciation for their great work. PTO will ask families to provide items for lunches this week. An email request with a link to sign up will be sent out soon.
- Field Day, a fun-filled event for all grades, is scheduled for May 20. The PTO will support this event by purchasing popsicles for all students. Mr. Tobin is in the process of finalizing the day's activities. Volunteers are needed to help with activities.
- The end-of-year Kindergarten Celebration is scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 20. The students will sing songs and enjoy light refreshments. The PTO will provide cake and punch for this event in the hopes it will become an annual tradition. Kindergarten parents: please contact your child's teacher if you can help with the event.
- The 6th Grade Promotion Celebration is scheduled for 10 a.m. on the last day of school. Sixth-grade parents are encouraged to help with the event. Please check in with Mr. Dietsch or Mrs. Kammerer to help.
- The PTO officers for the 2019-20 school year, they are as follows: Co-presidents - Kathy Easley and Noelle Fabiano; Vice President - Liana Wayman; Treasurer - Sandee McKay; Secretary - Heidi Embley; Membership - RaeAnn Jones.

A committee made recommendations to update the PTO bylaws. Please take a moment to review the proposed bylaw changes. If you have any comments or concerns, please email the PTO before May 7. Voting on proposed changes will occur at the next PTO meeting.
As a PTO member (only $1!), you have the power to vote and shape the type of support we provide at our school. If you're not a member, fill out this form and return it to the office.
Last Call for Yearbooks
Yearbooks are here and they look great! They'll be sent home with students sometime this week. Thank you to Mrs. Weaver and her excellent work to put together a book to memorialize our year at school. If you missed the pre-order, there is a limited supply of books available, first-come, first-serve. Cost is $20 each.
