Principal's Message

Tuesday, October, 20, 2020

Dear SFX Family,

It is hard to believe that we are already in the second half of October! Even during a pandemic, SFX is keeping busy.

Tonight the Scouts are holding their annual Round-Up for 1st-5th grade students. They are also holding a fundraiser at Mark Twain's Pizza tomorrow and Thursday. This Saturday is our annual Trunk-or-Treat! We are doing one last call for candy donations to be brought in tomorrow morning. Remember, the homeroom room that donates the most candy will win a pizza party!

I would like to remind everyone to notify me immediately if your child or anyone in your household tests positive for COVID-19. If it is after hours, you can email me regardless of time. If you are unsure about an exposure or symptoms, please call or email as well. With our Ochsner partnership, I can quickly find out information and proper protocol. Thank you for your continued help and support in keeping our community as healthy and safe as possible!

We are not able to have our traditional Open House this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. But, we are working on a video to share with prospective parents. It will be published on our website and social media as soon as it is finished. Registration for new students and siblings is the week of November 16-20. Please help us spread the word about our great school!

Lastly, as the weather is changing, please remember that only SFX outerwear is allowed.

May God bless you and keep you,

Jessica A. Dwyer, M.Ed.

  • If anyone in your immediate family tests positive, please notify Ms. Dwyer immediately. You can call the school, 833-1471, or email if after hours.

  • Students should be kept home if they have any symptoms and their doctor should be consulted. Please do not assume it is allergies or a cold or send them to school after giving medication.

  • Hang your name sign from your rear view mirror for the entirety of carpool so that all staff can see the name. Hint: A pants hanger works great!

  • Siblings & Carpools are dismissed from the yard. Single Riders are dismissed from Betz Pl. Please go to your usual location even if a sibling is sick or out of school. The students are used to going to their designated side.

Halloween Costume Day

Thanks to your hard work, support, and generosity, we crushed our s-t-r-e-t-c-h goal for the fun run. This means the students earned a fun, not-so-scary, Halloween Costume Day! Please review the following guidelines for Thursday, October 29, 2020:

  • Students may not bring any weapon-like accessories to school.
  • Students may not wear any gory, scary, or violent costumes - Please be thoughtful in your choices remembering that we have students as young as 2 years old on campus.
  • We request that our students do not wear political costumes to school.
  • All students must still wear their face mask to school with their costume.
  • Students should not wear any costume that would obstruct their view in class or that of others.
