First Home & School Meeting of the year

When: Thursday, September 26th

Time: 7:30pm

Place: Library

Please join us for our first meeting of the year. We will hear a little from and about each committee and discuss the upcoming events for the fall, including the Race for Education. We’ll also begin discussions on our Outdoor Classroom concept. Light refreshments will be served.

We hope you can join us!

Evacuation Drill

On Friday, September 27th Gayman will be practicing an evacuation drill to Tohickon Middle School. The students will be escorted by staff beginning at 8:45 AM. The Plumstead Township Police will assist with students crossing Point Pleasant Pike during the course of the drill. In the event of rain the drill will be postponed to a later date.

Wonderful Weather

We have experienced wonderful, warm weather this fall allowing students to wear summer clothing. We ask that you closely monitor the clothing your children wear to school. Clothing such as flip-flops (for safety reasons), spaghetti strap shirts, short shorts/skirts, etc. are not appropriate for school. In addition, areas such as the belly should not be exposed. Children who come to school wearing such clothing will be asked to report to the nurse who will provide them with alternative clothing.

Boomerang Award

This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www.

This particular asset is best observed by parents. If you think your child meets the criteria for this asset, please nominate your child using the form (please click here) and return to the office by Tuesday, September 24th.

September: #2 Positive Family Communication. Young person and his/her parents communicate positively, and young person is willing to seek advice and counsel from parents.
