Macbeth
Who do you think made Macbeth go crazy? By MacKinley Clark
Song Connection
The song "I Knew You Were Trouble" Taylor Swift compares to Lady Macbeth being a burden to Macbeth by making him go off of the rails on his killing spree. The song states," I knew you were trouble when you walked in". That is what Macbeth should've thought of before he married Lady Macbeth. In the book it says that Lady Macbeth was very ambitious and headstrong. She caused a lot of "trouble" by making Macbeth kill the King.

Explaining Paragraph
I believe that Lady Macbeth was the one responsible for Macbeth going on his killing rampage. Lady Macbeth hopes that her deeds will not point at her and Macbeth," O, never shall sun that marrow see!"(Act 1 Scene 5). The couple argues a good amount about weather to do it or not," Lady Macbeth... she scornfully accuses him of cowardice and tells him that a true man would never back out of a commitment"(Act 1 Scene 7). Lady Macbeth always takes things to the next level and ends up having to finish the deed herself,"Infirm of purpose! Give me the daggers"(Act 2 Scene 2). There are many ways that Lady Macbeth takes it farther than it should go, and pushes Macbeth very harshly.
Literary Devices
- Foil- "Yet it was said it should not stand in thy posterity, but that myself should be the root and father of many kings"(Act 3 Scene 1). This is explaining how Banquo is feeling suspicious about Macbeth murdering the King and decides to rub it in his face that Macbeth's family will not live long on the throne. This is Macbeth fighting with Banquo.
- Tragedy- "I will not yield, to kiss the ground before young Malcolm's feet and to be baited with the rabble's curse"(Act 5 Scene 8). Macbeth decides to fight Malcolm to the death and he ends up losing.
- Dynamic Character- "There's one did laugh in's sleep, and one cried 'Murder!' They did wake each other. I stood and heard them. But they did say their prayers and addressed them again to sleep"(Act 2 Scene2). Macbeth is the dynamic character because he went from being a normal man to going crazy because he killed the king. The quote tells the part when Macbeth was explaining, to his wife, the voices he heard after he had killed the king. Which mad Lady Macbeth worry for her husband.
All of this was the doing of Lady Macbeth pushing Macbeth to kill the king and fulfill the prophecy. Once he killed the King he felt like he had to keep killing to stay in the throne. After that, he went on a killing spree and ended up not making it in the end.
Movie Connection
All of the "Hunger Games" movies have a character that is headstrong like Lady Macbeth was in the play. President Snow, resembles Lady Macbeth in a very deep way. The President makes all of the innocent kids go in an arena and kill 23 other innocent kids just for sport. President Snow is ruthless and is never fulfilled if something doesn't go his way. He will make sure that it happens no matter what, just like Lady Macbeth when she kept pushing Macbeth to murder the king. He doesn't make people go crazy and go on killing sprees, but he degraded the people until they realized, or "believed", that he was right no matter what. President Snow is just as ruthless as Lady Macbeth.
