Building Relationships with Students: Look for the Goldfish!
As educators we get to know our students sometimes better than even their parents. As you get to know them you will learn about their life experiences both positive and negative. The below you will find a link to a great article that is a must read and can lead to great discussion in your PLC and reflection on the type of classroom you must create to help all learners be successful. This is a quick read with so much to share!
Learning Objectives: A must for a focused classroom
"Teachers in high performing urban schools are explicit about what they want their students to learn." The learning objective is a non-negotiable in every Lovett classroom for every subject that you teach. When I walk into the classroom it's the first thing I look for as one piece of evidence that you have communicated to your students what they are focusing on. Another look for/listen for is that you talk to your students about the learning objective(s). The learning objective is one way to focus on mastery.
Next week our administrative team will be being objective look for and listen for to provide coaching in the area as needed. We can't wait to see and hear all the amazing things students are learning in your classrooms.
