IAR Small Groups
Illinois Assessment of Readiness-April 8-12
Practice for IAR this week during ELA/Math classes and Advisory
Do not let it disrupt the scheduled lessons, but rather show your students a little each day how to use the tools. This could be a warm up or a wrap-up each day, but you do not have to have the students take the practice tests. Using the tools correctly is a critical skill.
Reading and MathTest: It is important to note that the text box expands for extended responses, there is an answer eliminator available for the students to use and the ability to take notes while reading a passage. The note feature is important because students are often required to compare 2-4 different resources/articles while answering questions. Be sure students see each tab for each article or resource. Remind students of the types of questions Part A and B, select ALL that apply, which BEST supports....
After discussing with a few teachers last week and our Administrative Council, I request that the Advisory staff implement the following changes as we prepare for the testing week.
- Have students take 1 math and 1 ELA test during the week.
- Practice active proctoring as this is one of the easiest ways to keep students focused.
