Sixth Grade Newsletter
January 13, 2019
Dear Parents,
Reminder: students will have a half-day Thursday and Friday. School will be dismissed at 11:20 and no lunch will be served.
English
This week we will learn about the best way to take notes and avoid plagiarism. Students will be researching and doing some writing for their non-fiction projects, which will not be due until the end of January.
The school spelling bee will be Tuesday, January 22 after school in the library.
We will have a quiz on Friday over this week's mentor sentence and root word.
Enrichment Writing
Math
Last week in math, students took the Chapter 4 test. Also, they had two math assignments: page 267(1-11) and page 273(2-8)/page 274(1-6). Students are now working on Chapter 5: Percents. Students interested in taking a retake for the Chapter 4 test will be able to do this on Friday, January 18th or Monday, January 21st.
Enrichment Math
Students practiced solving 2 step equations. Next week they will continue working with this concept.
Social Studies
Science
Students are finishing up the Systems Game Boards they have been working on in class. They will have Monday in class to finish and we will play the games Tuesday. Students will have a quiz over cell specialization and systems of the body this Thursday 1-17-19.
