Colts,
Another very busy week is in the CMS books! As we begin to wrap up the school year, we look to make sure everything is in order for the upcoming year. With that, our 8th graders had the opportunity to work with our counseling department, along with our high school counselors, to complete their arena scheduling for the 18-19 school year. Preparing for the next chapter in life can seem overwhelming but also exciting as a new adventure awaits. Today, we had an opportunity to celebrate former Colts and current seniors as they received scholarships from our CMS PTA to further their education in college. Whether our students are moving to the next grade at CMS or moving on to the high school, our Colts are working hard to finish the year strong.

STAAR TESTING
CMS will be a closed campus Monday, April 14th through Thursday, April 17th for testing. Parents and guests will not be allowed to come into the school during school hours.
Since we will have a closed campus on testing days, lunch deliveries/drop offs won't be allowed. Students will not have access to their cell phones or be able to pick up a lunch by attendance due to the restricted testing areas, testing device policy, and their varied lunch times. Lunches should either be purchased from the cafeteria or brought from home. Students will be allowed to have water with a lid, but no snacks during the time they are testing.
Thank you for your assistance.
Mustang Panther Stadium Update
Good afternoon,
As we wrap up another great school year in GCISD, we are already looking ahead to next fall and the re-opening of Mustang Panther Stadium. I am sure that most of you have observed the progress on the facility while driving down Highway 26, but I am also sure that many of you have asked the question, “will this be ready by August?”
This year, Texas had a significant amount of rain, compounded with high winds, which has unfortunately delayed the completion date for the project. We have been working diligently with our football coaches and their respective opponents to make any necessary adjustments to the schedule. As a result, we have made the following changes:
Week One:
August 30: Grapevine v. Azle at Dragon Stadium
August 31: Colleyville Heritage v. North Forney at Dragon Stadium
Week Two:
September 7: Grapevine v. Abilene Cooper at Apogee Stadium (UNT)
September 7: Colleyville Heritage v. Carroll at Dragon Stadium
Week Three:
September 13: Colleyville Heritage v. Trinity at Pennington Field
September 13: Grapevine v. Northwest at Northwest Stadium
Week Four:
September 21: Bye week for both teams
At this time, the first planned home game for the 2018 season is the Colleyville Heritage homecoming game against Newman Smith High School on September 28.
We understand that this is not ideal for our families, fans and especially our players; however, the weather and its impact on construction is beyond our control. We have worked with neighboring districts to have great places for our students to perform and I am confident that our students, fans and community will show up and support our teams during these first few weeks of the season.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during the stadium construction. It will all be worth it when we are enjoying the performances from our students at the new Mustang Panther Stadium!
