What's for Lunch?
Click here for the November Lunch Menu.
Birthday Treats
To promote a positive, safe, and healthy lifestyle and classroom learning community; birthday celebrations at school will not include treats or favors from home. Teachers will choose to celebrate students in their classroom in grade and age appropriate ways.
DGS Spirit Days
November 3 - DGS School Spirit and Popcorn Day! Wear blue or yellow or your school spirit wear. Popcorn will be served during lunch.
November 10 - Show your Veteran's Day Spirit by dressing in Red, White, and Blue on Friday, Nov. 10. This is also a half day for students with dismissal at 11:15 am.
Recess
Please make sure your child is prepared and dressed appropriately for outside recess. Students will go outside for recess anytime the temperature is 15 degrees or above (including wind chill).
Parents cannot request that students stay inside based solely on the temperature. It is important for the students to get outside and play when possible during the winter months.
Any child who is exempt from physical education for medical reasons will not be allowed to participate in outdoor recess activities. Re-injury on the playground could occur. Arrangements for indoor recess in the main office or a supervised classroom will be made.
Extended Travel
As a reminder, teachers are unable to prepare homework prior to an absence. If your child will be absent for more than 10 consecutive days for travel he/she will be dropped from PowerSchool. Your child's class spot will be saved for 30 school days as long as a return date is provided.
The district does not offer a remote learning option. 4th/5th grade chromebooks should be turned in to the office prior to leaving. They will be re-issued upon return. Please make sure to let the classroom teacher as well as the office know of any planned absences.
Book Fair - Wrap Up
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Book Fair and purchased books. Your support allows Parents Club to get books into the hands of so many Royals! The DGS Parents Club was able to purchase over 200 books for students and teachers.
Royal Fun Run
The 2023 Fall Royal Fun Run was a success and a lot of fun! What a great day! Thank you to everyone that helped us meet our goal of $6000. A special thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped set-up, run, and breakdown the event! We could not have done it without you. Please see the attached November Newsletter Write Up for more details.
DGS Carnival
Believe it or not, the Carnival Planning Committee is already planning and working on the 2024 Carnival. Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss it! Carnival will be on Saturday, February 24 from 3:00-7:00 pm.
Our Carnival is our biggest fundraiser that the Parents Club sponsors each year with all profits going back to the school for designated projects. If you are interested in helping us plan the Carnival events for this year, please send us an email at: dunlapparentsclub@gmail.com
Working on this committee is a great way to meet a lot of other parents. It’s fun and really rewarding when the event all comes together!
