Dear Cavalier Families,

I hope that you were able to spend the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday peacefully and reflecting on all of his intentions. From his famous "I have a Dream" speech, these sentences have always stood out to me.

So even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.

It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day

this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths

to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.

Our staff had a meaningful retreat last Friday after school. We were able to learn more about each other and reaffirm why we are in the field of education and working with all of your extraordinary children. That afternoon let me know just how much our staff is committed to educating, nurturing, and preparing your children so that they can have the financial security that is often obtained by achieving in high school to lead to a successful college or career pathway. That is our mission. We know that you share the same sentiment in the value of obtaining a quality education.

This week's announcements.

  • Water fountains and refillable bottle stations have been turned back on throughout campus. As a result, there will be no more free water bottles given with cafeteria meals. Please send your student with a refillable water bottle to school. The cafeteria does have cups for students to get water.
  • The District has reduced the number of days for quarantine for most COVID situations. Please read the update below.
  • Free Food Distribution this Wednesday, January 19, staring at 4:00 pm until supplies run out on G street.

  • There are no more of the one-time testing kits given out before school resumed.
  • We do have COVID test kits available weekly through our SDSU/NIH/SUHSD study. Students and household members can now register to obtain test kits. Please see information below. There are also experiencing staff shortages, so please be understanding of adjustments in times of the kit distribution and probable long lines. Participation in this study requires registration. It takes about 25 minutes on your mobile phone before you can obtain any tests on your first time only. Please take that into consideration. We appreciate your patience.
  • Rise up Friday will start next Friday, January 28 for students who are invited to work with their teachers.
  • There will be a 3 in 1 Emergency Drill for Staff and Students also on January 28th.
  • The District has changed quarantine guidelines. See the information below. If students are feeling ill, please keep them home. We especially need to know if students are COVID-positive or a close contact of someone.
