Parent Survey
In Lago Vista ISD, we strive to continuously improve teaching and learning by gathering and reflecting on feedback from different stakeholders within our learning community. Feedback from our parents is crucial to help us identify what we are doing well and areas where we can improve on individual campuses and as a district.
Please take a few moments to complete the parent survey for Lago Vista Elementary School by clicking on the following link:

GT Spring Referrals (1st-12th) and Kindergarten Screening
Each year Lago Vista ISD evaluates all kindergarteners to identify students for the Gifted and Talented program. During this screening process, with your consent, your child will complete one or more assessments. These assessments will be administered at school, and will provide us with multiple measures of ability, creativity, and academic aptitude. If you signed a consent form when you registered your child for kindergarten, you do not need to sign a new consent form. If we do not have a consent form on file for your child, one will be going home in this week's Friday folder. Please return consent forms to Randenne Kelley, GT Facilitator, by Thursday, February 1st.
The spring referral window for students in grades 1-12 is now open. Please visit the Curriculum and Instruction page on the district website, or click on the link below, for the referral form. All referral forms are due February 1st.

Ms. Sophia Gase - Second Grade Teacher
This is my first year working at LVES! Before this year, I taught Pre-K in Austin for two years.
2. Where are you from originally?
I've lived in Austin since I was 12, so I tentatively call myself a local. I lived in Nebraska, Australia, and Singapore before Texas.
3. Tell us about your family...
I am the oldest of 3 children! My sister is in Washington DC getting her Masters in Museum Studies, and my brother is studying engineering at Texas A&M. My dad runs a local Austin hummus company - Lantana, and my mom is a real estate agent.
4. What's your favorite book series?
Hands down favorite book series is Harry Potter.
5. What's the best present you ever got for Christmas?
This is a tough one. Probably the iPod Classic when they first came out. I still use mine!
6. What was your first job?
My first job was in high school at a movie theater.
7. What is your favorite part of your job?
The kids. They make me laugh everyday!
Mrs. Christine Harris - Administrative Assistant
1. How long have you worked in Lago Vista and what did you do before you started at LVES?
I have been working for Lago Vista for six years. I started out Substitute teaching, then I was a Para in Special Education and I have spent the last three years in the Administrative Assistant role. Prior to working at Lago Vista, I was a teacher at a local mother's day out program for five years. My actual career prior to having children was spent at the Corporate headquarters for Pier 1 Imports and JCPenney doing allocations and buying in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
2. Where are you from originally?
I was born in Batavia, New York. This is in Upstate New York, farm country.
3. Tell us about your family...
I have been with my husband, Scott for 25 years. We have two sons. They both attend LVISD. I have a sophomore(Ethan) in High school and a six grader(Mason) at the Middle school.
4. What are your favorite hobbies?
I enjoy being pampered at spas, watching sporting events(especially my boys) and traveling.
5. What is your favorite part of your job?
What I like most about my job is that I am involved in almost all aspects of the school. This can make for an interesting day, no two are alike. And of course, the fine office characters that I get to see each day:).

Counselor's Corner
Hello LVES Families!
As we wrap up our class guidance lessons on caring, here is a good reminder for us all: The smallest gesture or act of kindness can often impact others in a big way. A simple hello, smile, or taking the time to ask someone if they are ok, and listening to their answer can really help people feel better. This holiday season, ask yourself how you can help others by showing you care!
“No one is a failure in this world that lightens the burden for someone else.” ~Anonymous
“A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.” ~Denis Waitley
