A Note from Mrs. Shostachuk 09/18/2022
Dear Central Road Families:
The cooler evening temperatures are a true indicator that fall is around the corner. It is one of my favorite seasons of the year and we look forward to all things "fall" over the next few months. We had another productive week of teaching and learning! Thank you for your support and dedication to our school. Please enjoy your weekend with family and friends.
Kindly,
Joanna Shostachuk

SEL Learning in the Classroom
Social and emotional learning (SEL) aims to help students better understand their thoughts and emotions, to become more self-aware, and to develop more empathy for others within their community and the world around them. Central Road's two wonderful school social workers will be pushing into each classroom this school year. We are excited to offer this opporunity to our students. Over the course of this year, they will proactively teach and model various SEL skills. These lessons will last for 30 minutes, one time a week. They will take place for up to 6 weeks. 1st and 6th grade lessons began last week. Once concluded, our social workers will rotate onto kindergarten and 5th grade. Lastly 4th, 3rd and 2nd graders will participate in this learning too. Topics, such as the following, will be covered in each of our classrooms over the course of the 22-23 school year.
*Whole body listening
*Advocating/self help skills
*Including others/balancing friendships
*Managing emotions and our feelings
