Math and Science
In math we are continuing to review factors, multiples, and solving word problems. Currently we are learning long division with number disks and the long division algorithm. You can follow along at home using Module 3, Lessons 26-38 over the next two weeks. My goal is to test Module Three around the middle of the month. Please continue to work on, and master, your multiplication facts.
In Science we are studying rocks and minerals. Students can re-read their rock pamphlet as part of their 20/20 for reading, if they so choose.
Reading and Social Studies
In Reading we're continuing to strengthen fluency and comprehension skills. Every week presents a new story; however, the same skills repeat themselves throughout the weeks. This week we're studying text and graphic features.
The Social Studies projects are finished for Unit 2 and they turned out beautifully. The children are anxious to begin another one! We will be learning about North Carolina's Statehood very soon.
Replenish Materials, Please!
Please ask your child if they need a new stitched composition book for math class. Many students are running out of pages very quickly. As always, we are in need of pencils, pencil-top erasers, tissues, and paper towels.
