Textbook and Materials Distribution
Friday, September 4, 2020
This Is For SELECTED Students ONLY
Dear Atholton Families,
I cannot stress enough the importance of you reading this newsletter carefully to gain a full understanding of the process for our textbook and materials distribution this coming Friday, September 4. The last thing I would want is for someone to arrive at school who did not have to.
First and foremost, NOT every student will be required to come and pick up textbooks and materials. HCPSS, along with the teachers at Atholton High School, has worked diligently to provide rigorous and engaging instruction in the virtual classroom without the need for textbooks. Therefore, only students enrolled in specific courses will be required to retrieve items this Friday. Below are the courses for which materials/textbooks will be distributed. PLEASE CHECK YOUR SCHEDULES TO DETERMINE IF YOU NEED TO PICK UP ITEMS.
There are some families who have been specifically contacted to retrieve items. More specifically, those students enrolled in Ms. Meloro’s piano class know who they are to come to pick up items.
Additionally, for those families who requested Chromebooks, you received an email this evening instructing you to come to pick up your device. If you requested a device AND did not receive an email, your device will be distributed at a later date.
We anticipate about half of our student body coming to pick up items on Friday. Once again, if you have not been personally contacted or not enrolled in the courses listed below, YOU DO NOT have any items to retrieve.
We are asking that you adhere to the following guidelines:
One vehicle per household.
Vehicle occupants must remain in their car at all times.
The name of the student is to be posted in large letters on the passenger side of the windshield.
Upon arrival at the school parking lot, follow the established traffic pattern (see attached map below) to avoid traffic backing up onto Freetown Road.
Arrive using the main entrance into the parking lot.
You will leave via the bus loop and are asked to make a right turn only and head to the Senior and PTSA gift distribution stations.
Please wear a facemask.
We realize that not everyone will be able to make this distribution. If you have any questions or need to schedule a time to pick up materials next week, please contact Jamie Melcher at Jamie_Melcher@hcpss.org to schedule a time to retrieve items. Additionally, if you have any materials or textbooks from last year that need to be dropped off, please do so on Friday.
Lastly, please be sure to read the information below from our PTSA. They have back to school gifts for seniors and families to distribute while you are here. If you do not have items to retrieve from the school, you are welcome to come up and retrieve your PTSA gifts. We ask that you please use the auditorium parking lot entrance to do so.
Have a great evening and see you on Friday!
