BE Thankful

On Thursday this week we discussed briefly in our Seminar time what it means to "keep our hearts full of thanks and giving". This month we will be working on being thankful as a district theme.

Our message here is very similar to our BE KIND theme in October. Being thankful is not a single act -- it is an INTENTIONAL state of being or feeling. And the best thing about it is that when we participate in GIVING, we usually feel more thankful ourselves.

I hope as you read this that you get a chance to reflect and be thankful for some even small thing that you normally overlook. We will try to impart the same good feeling on your student this month and moving forward.

BE Thankful!

"Learning Dispositions"

What are Learning Dispositions? Simply put they are mindsets about learning. Sometimes as learners we feel resilient (or defeated), excited (or nervous), hopeful (or hopeless).

What our entire district has been working on are a core set of learning dispositions. At the high school, we have a model that follows the acronym C.L.I.O.

Our C.L.I.O. matrix is posted everywhere and describes our core dispositions we hope to see and develop. We want learners to: Seek Challenges, Use Logic, Improvise, and Be Optimistic.

You can help by talking about and using similar language with your student(s).
