Principal Ponderings: Wie Gehts
Why go through all the trouble for one class? Here's why. My German teacher, Frau Priester, happened to be the same German teacher I had for two years in high school and she was awesome. We had a great rapport and I thoroughly enjoyed being in her class. If I missed her class I felt that I would be personally letting her down.
This is the power of relationships. This is why the next 46 days are so important. Positive teacher-student relationships have a .72 effect size on student learning (an effect size above .4 is considered the tipping point). This is certainly a busy time in the educational year, but do not lose sight of what's most important and that is creating supportive and positive relationships with students and staff so that deep learning and great instruction can occur here at Lakeshore Middle School.
