The LMS Lowdown

March 12, 2021

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

At last night's Lumberton Township Board of Education meeting the members voted to adopt our updates to the reopening plan, which we are calling Phase II. We are excited to return to four half days of live instruction for those students and families who are choosing live instruction while at the same time offering the remote instruction as a choice. Either way, we believe this is a step in the right direction and we look forward to a day, hopefully sooner than later, where we will have a full school with a full day of instruction and students interacting with friends.

THERAPY DOG IS COMING TO LMS

Baloo will be starting at LMS next Tuesday. Please click the link below to see the video that was shared with all the students. We are so excited about this and look forward to a wonderful experience.

REOPENING, PHASE II

We are busy making preparations for the return to four days of in-person instruction starting 3/22. Those parents who declared they wanted their students to come back will be receiving information from the counseling office next week regarding the AUXS app and the new schedule for the students. We look forward to seeing those students back at LMS.

GREAT JOB RUHAN!

Congratulations to Ruhan S who represented LMS at the annual Burlington County 8th Grade Dialogue this past Monday. He was able to talk about his middle school experiences, the impact of the last year and his hopes and dreams for the future. Great job!

PARENT SURVEY

As we continue with our grant work in Lumberton we are looking for your input.

The U.S. Department of Education requires that we survey our students, families and staff to provide a comprehensive picture of our schools' climate. A multi-perspective approach is important because each of the stakeholders experience school climate differently.

The ED School Climate Surveys (EDSCLS) are a suite of survey instruments developed for schools, districts, and states by the U.S. Department of Education's (ED) National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Lumberton community members can take the survey by clicking here:

https://rowan.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5n0v9SwwVcZgRNP (English and Spanish)

This survey will close for responses on Friday, March 19th.

CLEANING UP THE COURTYARD

A big thank you to Mr. Bowes, Mr. Mitchell and the rest of the Lumberton Custodians who have pitched in to make the courtyard look nice for LMS. Here's hoping we can get fish in that pond soon

PRESCHOOL EXPANSION

The Lumberton Township School District is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a Preschool Expansion Grant from the New Jersey Department of Education. This award will allow the district to provide FREE, high quality preschool to a number of our three- and four- year-old students. The district will be partnering with the Center for Family Services to provide free, high quality preschool to Head Start eligible Lumberton children immediately upon enrollment.

Families must meet the criteria as outlined by Head Start, though some exceptions may be made for families moderately over these amounts. These income guidelines may be waived for families with special circumstances who might benefit from placement in Head Start.

What if I am not comfortable sending my child to school at this time?

There are several service delivery options available, including a fully remote option.

What do I do if I am interested in enrolling my child in the program?
