Tiger Family Newsletter Jan 2024
All the important deets to stay in the know!
A Note From Mrs. Gold
May It Be of Benefit
Hello Tiger Families,
Ah, let's all take a deep breath and let it out after the hustle of Christmas. Though I love the spirit of Christmas and the visiting, the food, and sharing gifts, what I truly delight in is the dawn of a new year. It holds so much possibility. What possibilities lie ahead for you and your family? I hope you will take some time to relax with your family and talk about what you hope 2024 will hold: your dreams, desires, goals and action steps.
Speaking of such things, when students return on Tuesday, January 9th, we will take some time to review routines, procedures, and expectations and we will get right back to pursuing our goals. 'Reading growth for all' continues to be our Wildly Important Goal. I encourage you to check in with your child frequently to see where they are in their personal reading goal (every student at Shasta Meadows has one).
Finally, I invite you to attend the showing of the film, The Right to Read. This is a free event held at the Shasta County Office of Education building at 43 Hilltop Drive on January 8th from 6-8. A flyer with more details is linked below in a separate section. I have seen the film and found it to be well done and enlightening. I hope many of you will be able to see it.
Wishing you all very happy, healthy, and abundant New Year!

Community Connect Corner
A Note From Julie David, our Community Connect Coordinator
With 2024 at our doorstep, many people use this New Year to contemplate how they want the future to look differently. One option is a professional therapist to guide you through the steps. There are many here in Redding and most can take Insurance/ Partnership or even a sliding scale. As adults, we're the ones who have to take responsibility for what we want and make it happen. If you're not sure where to start, please give me a call and I'll share local options.
Here's an option for our students 10 and up. The Shasta County Office of Education has partnered with a company called DAYBREAK. Daybreak is licensed therapists who work just with 10-18-year-old students. The most common topics they meet with students are anxiousness, stress, sadness, depression, dealing with trauma, and relationship struggles. It's a free, weekly one-on-one teletherapy. All sessions are virtual, flexible, and wi-fi and a quiet space would be needed.
2024 can be a new start, a new path, and a new goal. A few intentional steps will see you on your way. Let me know if I can help- Julie David- Community Connect @ Shasta Meadows. 530-780-6284 or email jdavid@shastacoe.org.

Events, Menus and More!
Welcome back Tues, Jan 9th!
Our Christmas Break is 12/22-1/8. Students will return on 1/9 and it is a regular school day (not a minimum day).
Also, there is no school on Monday 1/15 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
In February, we will observe Presidents Week. We will be out of school 2/19-2/23.
Family Orchard Day!
Some of you know that we have a unique opportunity at Shasta Meadows. Many years ago, someone invested in planting an orchard on our campus, and each summer and fall, we reap the harvest- figs, apples, peaches, and more.
Our District Garden Lead Teacher is sharing an opportunity for families to learn about pruning and to help our orchard keep thriving.
