3/11/2019: Your Weekly Update for Mayfield Intermediate
Celebrating our Students' Success!
On Tuesday, March 12 we will be hosting our Student of the Month recognition. Students will be invited to the cafeteria where they will be recognized by Ms. Whitaker and Mr. Moore for being selected as students of the month for January and February. Each students will be called and we will share why these students were nominated for being students of the month by their teachers. Parents are invited to attend!
On Thursday, March 14 we will be hosting our 1st Semester Honor Roll Ceremony. Students who have received all A's (Superintendent's Honor Roll) and students who have received A's and B's (Principal's Honor Roll) will be recognized. Dr. Newman will be on hand to help celebrate the students' success. Parents are welcome to attend. Seating will be limited due to the fact that we will be celebrating nearly 250 students.
These will be two exciting events that we hope will become staples of the tradition of Mayfield. We want to make sure that we celebrate our successes and recognize the students for their hard work and effort.

Mayfield Intermediate School's Career Day will be Friday, March 29 from 8:00 to 11:00 AM. This event is a great opportunity for our students to see all the careers that they can start preparing for even at this young age. I know that this will be a rewarding experience for our students as well as our Career Day presenters. Please consider donating some of your time to come in and support our Mayfield Bobcats with your knowledge and expertise!
Middle School Sports: Attention All 6th Grade Students
Effective for the spring sports season, sixth graders will be eligible to play spring sports at Metz. Discussions between Dr. Newman (Superintendent of MCPS), Mr. Ruppert (Principal at Metz), Mr. Williams (Activities Director at Metz) and me occurred during the winter months. We all decided that this could be a great opportunity for our students at Mayfield and help continue to build the a positive transition for our students as they prepare for Metz Middle School.
In order to participate in middle school sports students must have 2 items completed:
- A school sports physical that is no older than August 1st, 2018
- Concussion Training: This is a signed form stating that the the student-athlete and their parent/guardian has reviewed the signs/symptoms of a concussion.
Both these forms can be picked up in the gym or in the front office here at Mayfield.
Tryouts will begin on Monday, March 25th. Sports offered in the spring are; Boys Track, Girls Soccer, Baseball and Softball.
